SCS Meets with CSC Chairperson Atty. Marilyn B. Barua-Yap
The Scientific Career System (SCS) held a meeting with the newly appointed Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and Chair of the Scientific Career Council (SCC), Atty. Marilyn B. Barua-Yap, on February 4, 2025, at the Executive Lounge, CSC Building, Diliman, Quezon City.
The meeting was led by Ms. Luningning E. Samarita-Domingo, Director IV of NAST PHL and Executive Secretary of the SCC. Among the key agenda was a briefing on the SCS and its planned activities for 2025.
SCS Orientation Strengthens Support for Career Scientists in Government Agencies
The Scientific Career System (SCS) successfully conducted its SCS Orientation for Finance and Administrative Personnel on 31 January 2025 at the Manila Prince Hotel, Ermita, Manila. The event gathered 53 participants (30 women, 23 men) from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Environment and Natural Science, University of the Philippines, National Museum of the Philippines, Universidad De Manila, and Romblon State University, highlighting the essential role of finance and administrative personnel in ensuring the smooth implementation of the SCS in various government institutions.
Ms. Luningning E. Samarita-Domingo, Director of the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) and Executive Secretary of the SCC, formally opened the event on behalf of Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Co-Chair of the Scientific Career Council (SCC). In the Secretary’s welcome remarks, he emphasized the importance of properly implementing SCS benefits and entitlements across agencies. The orientation aimed to equip finance and administrative personnel with the knowledge needed to facilitate the efficient administration of these benefits, ultimately strengthening support for career scientists in government service.
